| Previous work on the property included a mine shaft to 1600ft (489m), and milling within the area of a favourable volcanic horizon on the property. The gold mineralization in the underground workings was associated with a fault crossing the volcanic horizon. This structure has been identified at five other unexplored locations on the property.
Preliminary exploration on the property consisted of stripping to exposed bedrock, rock sampling for gold and silver and shallow diamond drilling on and in the vicinity of identified structures. On newly exposed bedrock approximately 150 samples have been recovered at one metre centres from drill cuttings of holes 1 metre deep.
In Late Fall 2008, an induced polarization survey was conducted.
A regional airborne magnetic survey shows structures that are associated with the gold mineralization, specifically, faults trending north 30 degrees east across the west sector of the property at three separate locations.
Newstrike initiated an exploration program but has placed further exploration on hold, while we conduct and assess an exploration program on the Commodore JV Property (located approximately 500m East of the Kirkland Lake East property). |
